Martha Brown

Martha Brown retired from her role as senior editor at the University of California, Santa Cruz after 30 years, and continues to work as a freelance writer and editor. She began working at Midway Atoll in 1988 and has returned many times to assist with research and restoration efforts, to lead natural history tours, and most recently to organize and help lead the annual albatross nest count. She helps run a bird banding project at UC Santa Cruz’s coastal marine campus and coastal restoration projects in Santa Cruz County. She has also worked on bird banding, seabird research, and island restoration projects on Kamole (Laysan) Island, Palmyra Atoll, Año Nuevo Island, and in Alaska and Central America.
