The Kiamanu Project

General Information

Nā Kiaʻi Nihokū (NKN) and The Kiamanu Project focuses on re-establishing kinships between the Native Hawaiian community and seabird populations, develop a deeper sense of place inclusive of seabirds, as well as increase participation in seabird conservation and protections.

This effort focuses on creating those pathways through two main areas–1) The gathering, distribution, and education of salvage-appropriate seabird contents, with a focus on supporting the re-incorporation of seabird feathers and bird parts into traditional ceremonial products, and 2) establishing community-supported restoration efforts and ʻāina-based education around seabird populations.
